WHY CONSIGN?

Selling your graded comics via consignment can be an attractive alternative to trying to sell them yourself on eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc. The benefits of consigning your comics at the Certified Comic Shop include:

• Stress free selling. You ship your comics to me, and I handle the rest.
• Access to my audience. My website receives over 14,000 visitors per month, plus I have a very engaged social following of 5,000+ active comic book collectors.
• No need to worry about shipping time, materials or trips to the post office.
• My commission structure is simple and cheap (see details below).
• More time for you to focus on other things in your life, like visiting your LCS to buy more comics with the money you made from selling your comics on consignment (see what I did there?).

WHAT COMICS DO YOU ACCEPT ON CONSIGNMENT?

I’m currently only accepting CGC, CBCS or PGX graded comics for consignment. The Certified Comic Shop is known as a destination for comic collectors to buy high grade comics online, and that’s the sole focus of my business.

WHERE WILL MY COMICS BE LISTED?

Once I receive your comics, they will be listed for sale on my website. Additionally, I regularly share my graded comics for sale with my Email subscribers, Instagram followers and YouTube subscribers. Your comics will also be marketed on other known websites where people buy comics such as Facebook Marketplace and Reddit. My goal is to help you sell your comics as quickly as possible. Because I don’t get paid until you get paid, it’s in my best interest to proactively market your consigned comics to people who can actually buy them.

You can also choose to list your consigned comics on my eBay Store in addition to the above. However you are responsible for covering all associated final value and payment processing fees in addition to the sales commission. You may choose to list your comic at a higher sales price on my eBay store to cover those platform fees, however be cognizant that might lead to your comic being overpriced compared to the rest of the market.

HOW MUCH DOES CONSIGNMENT COST?

When you sell a comic on eBay, you’re going to pay the 10% final value fee plus a payment processing fee. Most other comic shops also charge a 10% commission in addition to a 3-5% payment processing fee for selling comics on consignment. Also, many other outlets won’t even take a consignment if its value is less than $100. Not me. I’ll accept any graded comic regardless of value and my commission structure is ridiculously simple and more than competitive giving you the opportunity to maximize your ROI.

Commission = 9% of Sale Price + $3.00 to cover supplies / handling.

Not only will you pay a smaller percentage upon the sale of your graded comic compared to eBay or another consignment outlet, but you won’t have to cover the payment processing fee either. Here’s a comparison of what that would look like in real life:

WHO SETS THE SALES PRICE OF MY COMICS?

I use tools like GPA for CGC and eBay Sold Listings to determine the current the fair market value and relative supply and demand specific to each of the comics you’ll be consigning with me. I also analyze how much competition is out there for the same comic in the same grade to ensure your comic isn’t drastically over — or under — priced. I’ll send you my suggested sale prices prior to listing and marketing your comics. Once the prices are agreed upon, your comics will be pushed out to the world!

If at anytime I notice that the market is trending upwards or downwards on one of your consigned comics, I will reach out to you with a suggestion to update your price. It is totally your call to accept that recommended pricing update or not. On the flip side, at anytime you can reach out to me and ask to have the price of the comic raised or lowered.

HOW LONG WILL YOU LIST MY COMICS FOR SALE?

There is no term limit for how long I’ll actively market your comics and have them available for sale on the Certified Comic Shop and related shopping platforms.

CAN I HAVE MY COMICS RETURNED BEFORE THEY SELL?

Of course! After 45 days of me receiving your consigned comics, you may request to have any unsold comics returned to you, however you must pay the return shipping fees. It’s worth noting that some comics may take longer to sell due to current market trends. If I foresee that one of your comics may need extra time to find the right buyer ahead of time, I’ll let you know prior to listing it for sale to set reasonable expectations.

HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH CONSIGNMENT?

WHEN AND HOW DO I GET PAID?

You will be paid via your choice of PayPal or Venmo for each sale after it occurs within 24 hours of the buyer’s funds arriving in the shop’s account.
